biography

rené carter was born in 1997 during a winter storm in colorado. she grew up with a love for adventure and spent her time outside running, climbing mountains, and skiing. 

when she was 20 years old, rené turned to art as a way to process her perceptions and experiences. she has been self-teaching ever since.

along with her art, rené has a strong passion for life sciences. she received her bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the university of colorado boulder and is now working on her phd in neurobiology. she aspires to study the neural mechanism abnormalities of various mental illnesses, with hopes of finding better solutions to these disorders. her interest in the brain and how it shapes our unique experiences play a major role defining the themes of her art.

rené currently lives in north carolina, where she is a graduate student at duke university. she spends her time studying, making art, and cuddling with her ragamuffin cat named fluffy.
